چکیده
Objective: To compare the results of humerus shaft fractures treated by functional bracing and dynamic compression plate. Study Design: Cross sectional comparative study. Place Duration Study: Department Orthopaedic Surgery & Traumatology, Liaquat University Hospital Hyderabad/Jamshoro from 1st June 2015 to 31st May 2016. Methodology: Eighty cases selected accident emergency department outpatient departments. Cases were divided in two groups; group A (dynamic plate) B (functional bracing). Patients either gender with age range 18-50 years an isolated closed fracture humeral shaft, duration within 2 weeks who willing participate study included while open fractures, bilateral injuries, poly-trauma, pathological fracture, smoker, alcoholic, immune compromised, history poor compliance, psychiatric disease excluded. Results: In conservative group, 32 (80%) males 8 (20%) females plate 30 (75 %) 10 (25%) mean was 35.75±9.083 year. There 46 (57.5%) patients sustained following road traffic accidents 16 had fall height 18 (22.5 after assault. Fracture location middle third most both groups. Mean time for union 15.45±2.864 14.325±3.033 follow-up 48.35±6.436 42.52±9.33 groups respectively Conclusion: Plating found be satisfactory method treatment high rates, better outcome [DASH Score] low complication rate as compared group. Outcomes of Closed Diaphyseal Humeral Fracturestreated by Dynamic Compression Plate versus Intramedullary Nail
Background: C ompression plates and intramedullary nails are the devices for humeral shaft fracture stabilization. “The nailing has been associated with post operative shoulder pain and stiffness due to impingement from prominent implants. Plate fixationreduced the risk of shoulder problems and may also reduce the risk of reoperation and shoulder impingement.” Objective:To “compare the outcomes...
متن کاملMinimally invasive plate osteosynthesis using a locking compression plate for diaphyseal humeral fractures.
PURPOSE To assess outcomes of minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis (MIPO) using a locking compression plate (LCP) for 42 humeral shaft fractures. METHODS. 28 men and 14 women aged 18 to 68 (mean, 34; median, 29) years underwent closed reduction and MIPO using a LCP for type 12-A (n=26) and type 12-B (n=16) humeral shaft fractures. Eight of the patients were aged ≥ 50 years. Patients were fol...
متن کاملA Pitfall in Fixation of Distal Humeral Fractures with Pre-Contoured Locking Compression Plate
Anatomically precontoured locking plates are intended to facilitate the fixation of articular fractures and particularly those associated with osteoporosis. Fractures of the distal humerus are relatively uncommon injuries where operative intervention can be exceptionally challenging. The distal humeral trochlea provides a very narrow anatomical window through which to pass a fixed-angle locking...
متن کاملManagement of Humeral Shaft Fractures With Intramedullary Interlocking Nail Versus Locking Compression Plate.
Surgical fixation of humeral shaft fractures generally involves plating or nailing. It is unclear whether one method is more effective than the other. The aim of this study was to compare the results of the intramedullary nail and locking compression plate for the treatment of humeral shaft fractures. A total of 60 patients with humeral shaft fractures were randomized to undergo surgery with an...
متن کاملIntramedullary Nail versus Dynamic Compression Plate Fixation in Treating Humeral Shaft Fractures: Grading the Evidence through a Meta-Analysis
There is a debate regarding the choice of operative intervention in humeral shaft fractures that require surgical intervention. The choices for operative interventions include intramedullary nailing (IMN) and dynamic compression plate (DCP). This meta-analysis was performed to compare fracture union, functional outcomes, and complication rates in patients treated with IMN or DCP for humeral sha...
